Permit to drive someone else's vehicle abroad
An internationally recognised document by which the owner of a vehicle registered in Croatia allows another person to drive that vehicle outside Croatia. It is issued in Croatian, French and English.
This document is handled exclusively at the Croatian Auto Club (HAK) or a HAK-authorised issuer. It cannot be self-made or certified online.
What you need to know
- Issuer: HAK, i.e. a HAK-authorised issuer, on the official form and with an official stamp.
- Presence: both the vehicle owner and the user must be present.
- Exception: if the owner cannot be present, the user needs the owner's power of attorney certified by a notary (valid 60 days from certification).
- Validity: up to one (1) year from the date of issue.
- Languages: Croatian, French and English.
- Applies only to a vehicle registered in Croatia, for driving outside Croatia.
- Documents: owner (individual) — ID card/passport + vehicle registration; user — ID card/passport + driving licence; owner (company) — court register extract + registration + ID of the authorised person.
- Fee: charged according to HAK's price list (please check the current amount with HAK).
